Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I FIND MY RIGHT SHADE?

Please consider purchasing and practising with our colour testers before purchasing the precision or wide applicators as these are non-returnable. When testing the products consider the following techniques:

•             Lightening - You can easily lighten the colour by dabbing a paper towel with water or witch hazel immediately after application to the camouflaged area.

•             Darkening - Multiple layers will make the colour appear darker and opaquer.

DO YOU SUPPLY SAMPLES?

Yes, our colour testers are provided FREE in order to facilitate a colour match, you can try different shades and techniques in the comfort of your own home, test them and see how they match. Orders  are limited to one colour per customer and a maximum of three different colour choices. Any orders not meeting this criteria will be cancelled.  Once you have ascertained your colour we encourage you to purchase the Precision or Wide Applicator.

WILL I GET MY MONEY BACK IF I PURCHASE THE WRONG COLOR?

No, we offer colour tester for this purpose which we recommend trying before purchasing the precision and wide applicators.

CAN I RETURN MY PRODUCT?

Our policy is that we recommend the use of a tester to try the product prior to purchasing the precision or wide applicators. On this basis we only accept returns on defective products and will conduct test to confirm the defect prior to issuing a refund or replacement.

WILL I GET AN EXACT MATCH TO MY SKIN TONE?

This depends on your skin tone and your application techniques but this is possible. Please remember that the skin can be multi-coloured so the colour required for your face may be different to your arms. You may therefore need several colours and different sized applicators.

WILL ZANDERM PROTECT ME FROM THE SUN?

No, Zanderm does not offer any SPF protection however you can apply sunscreen on top of Zanderm. In fact, we strongly recommend this.

CAN I USE ZANDERM WITH UV TREATMENTS?

Zanderm contains no SPF. We have had no reports of Zanderm interacting with UV treatment.  If you have any concerns, we recommend consulting with your dermatologist.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF ZANDERM?

The expiration or shelf life of all the applicators is 24 months.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY SKIN BEFORE APPLYING ZANDERM?

It is best to apply Zanderm to fresh, clean skin. Before applying Zanderm, wash your skin with a gentle cleanser that will support your skin type. We like to suggest using witch hazel. It's an astringent that really cleans the skin without leaving any residue. You can also use soap and water as well, just make sure that there is no residue left on the skin, as this could cause a barrier and will impact on the long-lasting effect and possible the colouring of Zanderm on the skin.

CAN I USE ZANDERM ON MY LIPS OR EYES?

Based on testing that Zanderm has done, there is no problem with using Zanderm around the eyes. We do not recommend the use of Zanderm on the lips, in the eye sockets or on  any mucous membrane. However, you can use it around these areas.

CAN I USE ZANDERM   IN MY GENITAL AREA / CAN I HAVE INTERCOURSE?

Yes. But do not apply directly onto mucus membranes. It is safe to have intercourse once the product has been applied and has fully dried.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

  • Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel)
  • Water
  • Natural grain alcohol
  • Dihydroxyacetone (DHA)
  • FD&C dyes
  • Phenoxyethanol

IS IT SAFE FOR CHILDREN / TEENS?

Zanderm's gentle formula has been dermatologist-tested and approved however if you have any concerns regarding its use, we recommend that you discuss its suitability with your GP or healthcare provider before using the product.

WHY DOES THE PRODUCT TURN A DIFFERENT COLOR ON MY SKIN?

We find this in a small percentage of customers. This can occur due to the dye in the product (which is an FD&C colour used in food) which can react with the pH balance. Alternatively, vitamins, medication, or something in your diet may also cause a reaction with the product.

WILL IT FADE WHEN SWEATING?

The initial colour that you see when Zanderm is applied is water soluble. This colour may fade from sweat. However, there is a secondary layer of colour that comes from DHA (sunless tanning) that develops after 4-5 hours that should leave some colour on your spot, though not the same colour that you saw with the initial application.

WHY ISN'T IT STICKING TO / STAYING ON MY SKIN?

There should be colour that appears on your skin immediately. If you are not experiencing this, you may have a cream or lotion that is acting as a barrier. Please clean/exfoliate your skin and try again.

CAN IT COVER DARK SPOTS AS WELL?

No. When you apply Zanderm onto pigmented skin, it will darken the skin even more.

WHERE SHOULD I STORE MY ZANDERM PRODUCT(S)?

You should store your Zanderm applicators at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

MY APPLICATOR HAS DRIED OUT / STOPPED WORKING?

If you find that your precision applicator run out unexpectedly it is normally because the tip is blocked or clogged. This is often caused by a cream or lotion that was on the skin at the time of application which has now dried out and is acting as a barrier.

If left open for an extended period or stored incorrectly the applicators may dry out. You can try rectifying this by applying some witch hazel to the tip. Colour testers are a single-use application designed specifically for testing a small patch to find if the colour matches.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPLICATOR LAST?

A little bit of Zanderm goes a long way. It really depends on the circumstances such as how large your area is to cover, how many layers of solution you apply, and how often you apply it.

HOW LONG DOES THE PRODUCT LAST ON THE SKIN?

Every person's skin is different. The colour will fade naturally over a period of time. Lighter colours tend to have to be applied more often.

IS ZANDERM WATERPROOF?

No. It is water-resistant but will eventually fade with washing / cleaning. This will be particularly evident on the hands since they are constantly being washed / rubbed. Zanderm does however develop a second layer of colour, from sunless tanning, that will still be there. This colour may not be as obvious as the initial application. As the days go by this colour will also fade. Everyone's skin is different, so we suggest trying the product beforehand to see if it meets your needs and expectations.

DOES IT WASH OFF?

The top layer application contains a water-soluble colour. This can wash or be scrubbed off. The second layer of colour comes from DHA and can be removed by exfoliation after the product has set (4-5 hours on your skin).

CAN I GO SWIMMING OR SHOWER WITH ZANDERM?

We recommend applying Zanderm after you shower for best results. Showering after application will lighten the colour. Swimming is likely to have a similar if not more profound impact.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO APPLY ZANDERM?

CAN I USE MAKEUP ON TOP OF ZANDERM?

Yes. You can use any makeup over Zanderm. Just wait a few minutes to make sure that the application is completely dry and set. We suggest using a light application of your regular base or foundation.

CAN I USE OTHER PRDUCTS OVER ZANDERM?

Yes. You can use moisturisers, sunscreen and other oil-based products on top of Zanderm, please just wait a few minutes for the application to set.

How to apply

STRAT WITH A TEST PATCH

As with all new products it is important to test a small area first. Apply gently, a small amount of colour, evenly applied, will give you the most accurate representation of how this shade will look on your skin. Remember that your skin tone may vary on your body. We recommend trying the samplers on the different areas that have vitiligo. You can always use a tissue or beauty blender to dab off any excess camouflage.

PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT

Shades may vary from person to person. It may take a bit of practice to get it just the way you like it. With a little experience, you can achieve great results.
